Wine Contest

The wine contest is a chance for any amateur wine maker to have his wine compared to other wines with a chance to win cash prizes. The judging is also open to any person interested in observing the judges at work.
The chairperson for 2007 was Fred Neff.

All wines must be homemade. Wines may be entered until 15 minutes prior to the start of judging in 3 categories: Red grape, White grape and Fruit, other than grape. All wines are judged on the following points: Aroma, Flavor, Appearance, Overall Impression and Drinkability. Prizes are awarded to 1st, 2nd and 3rd place wines in each category.

Hosting this year's judging was Kelley's Gathering Place. The judging was conducted in the Cherry Alley Courtyard with a few interested spectators. The Tuscarawas County Italian-American Festival Foundation would like to thank Kelley Watson for providing this area.

Getting ready to begin, Fred distributes forms to judges Scott McPeak, Philomena Larocca and Larry Rice.

Fred uncorks the first bottle and pours each judge a sample.

Scott takes a good sniff to check the aroma.

Philomena takes her wine judging very seriously.

Larry takes a long look at the appearance of the wine in his glass.
