Spaghetti Sauce Contest

This is a fun contest. Everyone who makes spaghetti thinks they have the best sauce. This is a chance to match your sauce against others for fun and cash prizes. The judging is conducted at the Heritage tent.
The 2007 contest was sponsored by Mary Zifer's Pizza and the Tuscarawas County Italian-American Festival Foundation would like to thank them for their continued support.
Chairpersons for this year's contest were Joan Beitner and Rae Ann Dabel.

Sauces can be entered at the information booth during the Festival until 15 minutes before the judging starts. Any sauce entered in the last hour should already be warm. All sauce entered must be homemade, no restaurants, in a sealed container. Sauce must be tomato base, vegetarian or meat. Sauces are judged on flavor, smell, texture, seasoning and color.

The judges are ready and eager to get started.

The judges are really concentrating as this is serious business. After all, the winner will be the best sauce maker in the Tuscarawas valley.

Joan and Rae Ann made sure everything ran smoothly.

To quote the winner, Gus Lambros, the 2008 contest should be advertised as "BEAT THE GREEK" since he plans on defending his title.
