2011 SCHEDULE OF EVENTS

 
During the 2010 parade season John and Joyce acted as escorts for the Host and Hostess, Francis and Dorothy Brogan. John drove a convertible provided by J.D. Byrider. They participated in parades at Dennison Railroad Festival, Dover Canal Days Festival, New Philadelphia First Town Days Festival, the Dover Halloween parade and the Dover Christmas parade.

Every year on Sunday morning the festival conducts a procession to mass from the midway. All members of the parishes in the county are invited to participate in the choir for that mass. Rehearsal is normally held on Thursday evening and directed by Beth at St. Joseph Catholic Church.

The 2009 Business of the Year, Krocker's Bar & Grill, hosts and sponsors the wine contest. The judging is open to the public and attracts many interested persons.

The grape stomping contest was added to the festival in  2009. That year the kids had a great time but no adults wanted to get involved. In 2010, not only did the kids get into it but a considerable number of adults got in the vat and had a great time. Gloria was the winner and her performance was certainly enjoyed by everyone. Sponsored by Barkett Fruit Company, it will be back at the main stage on Saturday at 2:00 P.M. We hope to see Gloria defend her title and plenty of competition trying to dethrone her.

Sunday afternoon the men take over the bocce courts. Drawing teams from the entire area, not just locally, the single elimination tournament often lasts all afternoon and into the early evening.

Mickey Bache has entertained at the Spring Fling and the festival for several years. This year we have moved him into the featured Saturday night slot following the Dominic Greco Band.
